Open day for those looking to become ‘on call’ fire fighters

Bideford and Torrington Fire Stations will be hosting open events for anyone interested in finding out more.

AN open afternoon will be held tomorrow (Sunday) for those interested in becoming a retained fire fighters in Bideford or Torrington,

Bideford Fire Station will be open from 10am until 3pm for people to drop in and find out more.

There will also be an open evening at Torrington Fire Station on Tuesday from 6.30pm until 8.30pm.

Both fire stations are on the lookout for people in the local community to become on-call or ‘retained’ fire fighters.

Men and women who work or live within five minutes’ response time of the station can apply to be on-call to provide a level of cover while at work or home.

The service is particularly looking for people who can cover during the day.
