Levels less than half the National average - and lowest for nearly five years
North Devon unemployment fell to its lowest level since 2008 in July, according to ONS statistics.
The number of Job Seekers Allowance (JSA) claimants fell below 1,000 for the first time since 2010 in June and that number continued to fall to 913 last month.
Unemployment in North Devon has now fallen every month since the start of 2013, and now stands at 1.6% - considerably below the national rate of 3.4%.
The rest of Devon also performed well in the latest ONS figures, with unemployment levels at their lowest for almost four years.
Devon County Cabinet member with responsibility for Economy and Employment Andrew Leadbetter said: “It’s good news that the number of claimants in Devon has fallen again to the lowest July figure in four years. We hope that this trend will continue in the coming months.”
