NORTH Devon pulled out all the stops on Friday with plenty of madcap fund raising efforts for Children in Need.

Across the region people of all ages donned fancy dress, baked cakes and hosted events to help raise money for the annual BBC appeal.

The flagship televised show hosted by Sir Terry Wogan and chums was a record breaker, smashing last year’s £26million total with an impressive £31m on the night.

Here, Great Torrington School raised £1,091.95 with cakes and hot drinks on sale plus games and competitions including the very popular ‘Teacher Karaoke’ and ‘sponge the teacher’ events.

At North Devon Orthodontics Centre in Barnstaple, staff donned animal ‘onesies’, sold cakes and raffled off a giant Pudsey bear.

In Barnstaple High Street, Boots staff joined in the fun wearing onesies, pyjamas, and dressing as Puss in ‘Boots’.

A colourful Monsters Inc character was wandering the High Street collecting for the charity.

Webbers Estate Agents in Barnstaple, Bideford and Braunton also sold cakes, while at Petroc beauty students offered nail art in return for a donation.

Ilfracombe Ukulele Club raised £306.74 by touring the town’s pubs, hotels and restaurants on Friday evening to stage impromptu performances.

Staff at NatWest in Ilfracombe took turns on an exercise bike for the whole day and peddled 127 miles to make £132.50.

Torridge District Council staff raised £424.12 by donating 70 raffle prizes and selling homemade cakes.
