Newspaper highly commended in free newspaper of the year category.

THE North Devon Gazette has been highly commended for the second year in a row at the EDF South West Media Awards.

The newspaper was one of three titles shortlisted in the Free Weekly Newspaper of the Year category at Thursday’s awards ceremony, held in Bristol.

A panel of judges from across the media industry awarded the main prize to Archant sister paper the Nailsea, Clevedon and Portishead Times.

Now in their tenth year, the awards honour the best in local journalism in Cornwall, Devon, Somerset, Gloucestershire, Wiltshire, Bath and Bristol.

More than 300 entries were received for this year’s awards, held in association with www.holdthefrontpage.co.uk.
