The weather in North Devon is set to take a turn for the worse, with thundery showers, lightning and even hail on the forecast tomorrow (Tuesday).
Enjoy the sunshine while it lasts, as lightning and hail showers could be hitting North Devon tomorrow evening (Tuesday).
The Met Office has placed a yellow weather warning over much of Devon from 5pm tomorrow until 8pm on Wednesday.
Forecasters warn of thundery showers and a risk of some localised flooding overnight on Tuesday
Frequent lightning is also forecast, with scattered thunderstorms and ‘intense downpours’ moving into Wednesday morning.
Large hail stones may be an additional hazard on Wednesday afternoon, according to the Met Office.
A chief forecaster said: “South West England looks like it will be first to see scattered thunderstorms, the threat then expanding northeastwards through the course of the evening.
“There is relatively low confidence in the areas more at risk of intense downpours.
“Some places will miss them altogether but where they do occur, there is the potential for locally 20 to 30 mm of rain within an hour.
“This may result in surface water flooding, particularly should these amounts fall across urban areas.”
