The 18-year-old from Bratton Fleming will be running the ‘summer camps with a difference’ this summer.

A BRATTON Fleming teenager has used his passion for languages to help inspire the next generation with the launch of a brand new language school.

Hola Language Learning was set up by 18-year-old Sam Dunbavin, from Bratton Fleming, and his friend Laura Schubert.

Sam, a former Pilton Community College student, is going to Cambridge University in September to study German and Spanish and wanted to put his skills to good use.

“Thanks to Pilton, I was given the opportunity to visit some amazing places, and to see first hand the power that languages has in opening doors; to travel, friendship and employment,” said Sam.

“I got to visit countries like Spain, Uganda, Egypt and France, and what impressed me most about all the people that I met there was their desire to learn English.

“For people in Uganda especially, English is a route out of poverty, as it enabled them to trade and converse with millions more people.

“What I would love to see is that same attitude from children here in the UK.”

Hola Language Learning will ‘turn traditional language learning on its head’, said Sam, using active learning techniques from singing to cooking and making paper hats.

The camps will run in the weeks August 18-22 and 25-29 in Bishops Tawton Village Hall and are open to children in Key Stage One, Two and Three.

For more information about prices, specific dates or to book a place for your child, visit Hola’s website, at www.holalanguagelearning.com, or email Sam at sam@holalanguagelearning.com.
