Planning committee approves plans for new building - but 26 parking spaces will be lost
Ilfracombe harbour is set to gain a new fisherman’s stores – at a cost of 26 car parking spaces.
North Devon Council’s planning committee approved the plan on Wednesday, which will include five individual stores, a cold store on the ground floor and five storage lofts above. The building will also include a ‘wave-form’ roof.
Cllr Paul Yabsley said: “This is important in finishing off safety measures at the harbour since we had a fatality there a few years ago.”
The benefits to the operational needs of the harbour and fishermen were seen to outweigh the loss of parking spaces at Cove car park, as the committee approved the application unanimously.
