A fancy dress New Year’s Day dip will take place at Westward Ho! on Monday - are you brave enough to take the plunge?

A fancy dress New Year’s Day dip is happening in Westward Ho! on Monday and all are invited to dress up and take part.

Anyone brave enough to take part can meet at 11am at the Carosel Amusements on the promenade ready for the warm up.

Jack Johns from North Devon Kickboxing will then take a mass warm up on the beach at 11.10am to get everyone warmed up and ready for the icy water.

The fancy dress judging will then take place, with winners in the children’s, ladies’ and men’s categories.

At 11.20am, swimmers will gather for a countdown to the tune of Benny Hill, before dashing into the bracing ocean.

Afterwards there will be a prize-giving and a warm up in The Waterfront Inn, and there will be a special New Year Dip hot drink too.

From 12.30-2.30pm there will also be live music at the pub for all to enjoy.

The event has been organised by the Westward Ho! Business Association and is free for everyone to take part.
