Ilfracombe’s first Costa store opens its doors for the first time on Saturday.

The official opening of the new store in the High Street will be conducted at 10am by Ilfracombe Mayor Paul Crabb.

Costa has moved into the former Shoe Zone premises and the new 1,200 square foot store will create seven new jobs. It will be managed by Mark Matthews.

Costa has chosen to support youth centre and café Belle’s Place with a cash donation and a cheque will be presented to co-founder, Keith Rickwood, at the official opening.

Costa Ilfracombe is the 50th store to be opened by South West Costa franchise partner Jurassic Coast Coffee, part of Premier Coffee.

Premier Coffee co-founder and managing director Robin Arkle said: “Thirteen years ago there were far fewer coffee shops in our towns and cities and UK café culture was in its infancy.

“I’m sure our new Ilfracombe Costa will prove to be a big success for the town and we look forward to welcoming the local community into our new store.”

Keith Rickwood added: “We’re extremely grateful that Costa has chosen to support Belle’s Place with a financial contribution, which will help us buy much needed equipment for our youth club.

“Ilfracombe’s youth are at the heart of what we do and I know that young people are hugely important to Costa too - their new Ilfracombe coffee shop will provide much needed employment and training opportunities for young people in the town. I wish the store team every success.”
