52-year-old died in hospital after sustaining critical injuries in bridge fall on A361
A woman has died following a fall from a bridge on the North Devon Link Road.
Police were called just before 4.40am on Wednesday 6 December with reports that a woman had fallen from the bridge on the A361 between Sampford Peverell and Tiverton.
A 52-year-old woman was taken to Royal Devon and Exeter Hospital with injuries described as critical; she later died at hospital.
Her next of kin have been informed, but formal identification has not yet taken place. Police are not treating the death as suspicious.
The road was closed as emergency services attended the incident, including support from the Fire service and the Police helicopter.
Police scenes of crime also attended the scene undertaking initial enquiries.
Police are undertaking enquiries into the death and are appealing for witnesses.
