People being asked to identify areas to tackle and to help out during the big clean up from May 11-18.

ILFRACOMBE’S big clean up for the season is now set to take place from May 11-18 and the Town Team would like to hear of a few good grot spots.

Residents or businesses are being asked to identify any places blighted by litter, graffiti, dog mess or plain old dirt, so they can be blitzed during the clean up week.

The action week is being organised by the One Ilfracombe Town Team and volunteers are also being asked to come forward to help out.

Organisers need people to help with admin, painting, weeding, beach cleaning, picking up litter and cleaning graffiti.

Streets in the town are invited to get involved and it is hoped a prize can be awarded for the most improved street.

Recently Children from Ilfracombe Junior School took part in a beach clean at Wildersmouth.

Help from Ilfracombe Town Council’s Litter group and One Ilfracombe’s Town Team saw many agencies working with the children on the clean, as part of the Surfers Against Sewage campaign for cleaner beaches.

If you can suggest areas to target during the clean up, or would like to help out, drop into the Ilfracombe Centre, call 01271 855338 or email janet.kennedy@northdevon.gov.uk and sarah.hiscock@northdevon.gov.uk
