Naked man allegedly caused damage to the building and vehicles after an alleged Wednesday night rampage in Princess Avenue

A naked man has been detained after allegedly smashing up windows and vehicles at Ilfracombe Police Station.

Officers were called to Princess Avenue last night (Wednesday) following reports a naked man had been causing damage to the station and to vehicles.

It is understood wing mirrors were pulled off a police van, the outside telephone was ripped from the wall and the man is believed to have punched through the glass of the outside door, injuring himself in the process.

Reports on social media suggested a car belonging to a member of the public had also been damaged.

An ambulance was called and the man was taken to hospital to receive treatment.
