North Devon couple win a brand new car after going into Barnstaple’s Bernard Smith to buy a TV...

A Kings Nympton couple visited Bernard Smith in Barnstaple to buy a television - but drove away in a brand new Mini.

While husband Paul finished up the purchase arrangements on their new TV, Angela Bilham decided to enter a free prize draw being run at the High Street retailer by its exclusive home appliance supplier Blomberg.

Mrs Bilham entered the competition just before Christmas and was stunned when the organisers contacted her with news of her late ‘present’.

“I have never won anything like that, it was completely out of the blue,” she said as she collected her prize on Monday.

“It was a massive surprise, but it’s absolutely wonderful too and a big treat. Bernard Smith have been very helpful and it’s a pleasure to deal with them.”
