Self catering cottages win gold, with several other North Devon businesses scooping awards.

High Bickington’s Millbrook Cottages have won gold for their luxurious self-catering accommodation at the prestigious South West Tourism Awards.

Held at the Grand Pier in Weston-Super-Mare, these awards form the regional heat of the national VisitEngland awards, to which Millbrook Cottages will now progress.

Owners Kate and Bob Boothby are ‘delighted’.

“It is great to be recognised by the tourism industry for our contribution,” said Bob.

There are just four luxurious and romantic cottages on the Millbrook Estate; a 32 acre plot near High Bickington.

After assessing a record 425 entries, this year’s South West Tourism Excellence Awards represent the very best the region has to offer and entrants underwent a rigorous short-listing process.

“To have won gold is a great achievement,” said Kate. “There are some wonderful places to stay in the South West and we are proud to be amongst them.”

South Molton’s North Hayne Farm Cottages won bronze in the same category.

There were silver awards for Highbullen hotel in the large hotel category and for Northcote Manor at Umberleigh in the Taste of the South West category.
