THE MAYOR’S charity dinner has raised around £2,300 for the chemotherapy appeal.

The dinner was held at the Royal Hotel in Bideford on Friday and Mr Johns was joined from Mayors all over the district.

The annual event raises money for the mayor’s chosen charity and this year will go towards the new chemotherapy unit planned for North Devon District Hospital.

Mr Johns said: “My wife and I are thrilled and delighted at how much we have raised. Everybody had a great time and it was a thoroughly enjoyable evening.”
