Barnstaple’s Marshals Pub dedicates more than £5000 of fundraising to local appeals.
MARSHALS pub in Barnstaple has raised thousands for the North Devon Chemotherapy Appeal.
Since 2012 landlady Debbie Furnifer, together with her late husband Bill, loyal staff and customers, have raised £5,474 for the North Devon Chemotherapy Appeal and the children’s Caroline Thorpe Ward.
“Our customers and staff have been amazingly supportive of our fundraising for the new chemotherapy unit and the children’s ward,” said Debbie.
“The Chemotherapy Appeal is very close to my heart as my husband Bill passed away from cancer last summer.
“It was important to us to raise as much money as we could for the unit.”
Several real ale trails along the Tarka Line have been organised.
John Cutler, a Marshals customer, took part in a 121 mile walk from Minehead to Barnstaple and Bude to Barnstaple.
Many other community events have also taken place with successful raffles, cake sales and Big Purple Days all contributing to this worthwhile cause.
Fundraising manager Ian Roome said, “Debbie and her incredible fundraising team are terrific.
“They have been fully behind our fundraising campaign and organised a wide range of fun events.”
