North Devon Magistrates' Court.

The 23-year-old took bread knife into the street and cut at his own arms after drunken row.

An electrical engineer who took a knife into the street and cut his arms has appeared in court.

Shannon Pile, 23, of Heppenstall Road, had a drunken argument with his girlfriend before grabbing the bread knife in the early hours of June 28.

The court heard his girlfriend chased him into the road where he dropped the knife and walked off before being arrested.

He pleaded guilty to possessing a blade in a public place in court on Friday and was ordered to carry out 80 hours of unpaid work and a 12 month supervision order.
