Man severely burnt after lawnmower catches fire

The man has suffered severe burns to his face and hands.

A MAN has suffered severe burns to his hands and face after a ride-on lawnmower caught fire this afternoon (Fri).

A fire crew from Barnstaple was scrambled to the scene at 4pm on Old Sticklepath Hill in Barnstaple after reports of a fire in a field.

On arrival, the fire fighters found a ride-on lawnmower well alight and tackled the blaze with a hosereel jet and fire extinguisher.

The man is in the hands of ambulance personnel and his current condition is not know.
