Coastguard called after 27-year-old attempted to scale 10m cliff face.
A MAN was rescued after getting stuck while climbing a 10-metre cliff at Saunton yesterday evening (Sunday).
The 27-year-old had attempted to scale the cliff from the bottom with friends before getting into difficulties.
He was winched to safety by Coastguard rescue teams from Croyde and Mortehoe after his girlfriend raised the alarm.
Swansea Coastguard’s Marc Lancey said: “Even a short cliff can quickly become an arduous climb and cliffs can be crumbly and unstable.
“Our advice is to only climb cliffs if you are properly trained, have the correct climbing gear with you and have risk assessed the cliffs.
“If you see someone in trouble at sea or along the coast call 999 and ask for the Coastguard.”
