Police interview 24-year-old local man as enquiries continue into damage to nine cars, including one destroyed by a fire.

POLICE have questioned a 24-year-old local man after nine cars were damaged in the Saunton Park area of Braunton last week.

One vehicle was destroyed by a fire in Pixie Lane in the early hours of Thursday, July 31, and several other cars were damaged.

Braunton police are still investigating the damage and undertaking enquiries.

Sgt Paul Jones, of Braunton and Ilfracombe police station, said “I am acutely aware of the impact this damage has had on individuals and their own daily lives and how unnerving it can be.

“Thankfully this is a rare occurrence and I want to reassure residents that we will be increasing our patrols in the area.”

Officers would again appeal for any witnesses who heard or saw anything suspicious overnight that night to come forward and contact Police on 101 or alternatively on Crimestoppers on 0800 555111 quoting Crime Reference CR/094432/14.
