Combe Martin man to face serious charges at Exeter Crown Court

A COMBE Martin man accused of committing nine historic sexual offences has appeared before magistrates.

Graham William John Staddon, 62, of King Street appeared at North Devon Magistrates’ Court on Friday charged with eight counts of indecent assault, all on the same girl, under the age of 16, and another of rape on a girl aged 16 or over.

The first eight charges are alleged to have taken place between May 21, 1974, and May 21, 1979, with the final charge allegedly taking place between May 21, 1978, and May 21, 1979.

Magistrates ruled that the charges were too serious to be heard in their court, and referred the case to Exeter Crown Court.

Mr Staddon will next appear at Exeter Crown Court on June 6, when he is likely to enter his plea.
