Officers seized the items which were discovered during a barn clearout.
POLICE seized two machine gun rounds from a barn near South Molton this morning which were discovered when the owners cleared it out.
Officers were called to Bentwitchen at around 11.25am after a woman called in saying her husband had discovered ammunition in the barn which hadn’t been touched for 20 years.
The couple were told to stay away from the barn and officers arrived and cordoned off the area while the ammunition was tested.
Firearms officers found the 50 caliber and.303 caliber rounds to be live and seized the items safely within half an hour.
PCSO Hannah Denton said the case was ‘very unusual’ but officers dealt with the matter swiftly and safely.
