Police said the brakes failed on a lorry on the Torridge Bridge this morning (Thursday).

A LORRY caused ‘traffic chaos’ on the Torridge Bridge in Bideford this morning (Thursday).

Police received a call just before 9am reporting the lorry’s brakes had failed and it was partially blocking the carriageway.

On Twitter, @sophiehellyer tweeted: “Lorry skidded out across Bideford new bridge causing chaos traffic. #ndevon”

A police spokesman said the road was cleared again by 9.45am.
