Westacott Road has now reopened following police investigation work.
A motorcyclist has been airlifted to hospital with what police are describing as ‘serious injuries’ following a collision with a car in Whiddon Valley in Barnstaple.
Westacott Road was closed in both directions by the junction at Coppice Close following the incident, shortly after 6pm.
The man is understood to have been flown to Derriford Hospital in Plymouth after the Devon Air Ambulance made an emergency landing on the Wesatcott Meadow playing fields.
The road was closed while police carried out accident investigation work but reopened at around 7.40pm.
