A teenager from Bideford came first in his category in an art competition for young people with autism.

A YOUNG man from North Devon has scooped top prize in a national arts competition for young people diagnosed with autism.

Luke Tuckwell, 18, won the digital category with his photo entitled ‘Toy Cars’ in the Create! Art for Autism 2012 competition.

Luke is a pupil of Broomhayes School in Bideford.

He entered one of four categories in the competition for young people aged 11-25 years against more than 550 entries.

The judging panel was led by British actress and president of the National Autistic Society Jane Asher and television and radio presenter Gaby Roslin.

The finalists’ artwork will be rolled out in a national art tour across Cardiff, Bristol, Birmingham and London.
