Traffic diverted as power company engineers work to restore power to properties

Highways teams have closed a section of the A361 North Devon Link Road near Barnstaple due to fallen power cables.

The road between the Bishops Tawton and Portmore roundabouts was closed for safety reasons shortly after 1.30pm.

Western Power Distribution engineers are currently at the scene and a spokesperson for the company said restoration would be complete between 4.30pm and 5.30pm.

Thirteen properties are understood to be without power.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area if possible.
