Sandra Johns enjoyed tea and cake with her final class at Braunton last week.
A LINE dancing teacher is retiring after 16 years of teaching classes around North Devon how to strut their stuff.
Sandra Johns, 63, began teaching classes in Chulmleigh, Swimbridge, Woolacombe and Braunton after learning the art on holiday with her husband Michael.
Her classes eventually combined into just Braunton and Swimbridge, and now Sandra has decided it is time to call it a day.
“I will miss the company of everyone and the lovely people in my classes,” said Sandra.
“My oldest dancer is 92, and she has been with me since I started up.
“I have made some wonderful friends and we will all keep in touch, but this is something I have decided it’s time to do.”
Linda Bell has been taking Sandra’s classes for 14 years in Braunton and said she will be sorely missed.
“We all laughed together and nothing was ever scary in her classes,” said Linda.
“She has supported and raised money for a number of charities by ways of raffles at dances, and a small team of dancers have performed and visited the elderly in nursing homes in the area.
“We just would like her to recognised for all she has done.”
