Street dancing ‘grannies’ from MF Dance will be proving they’ve definitely got what it takes with a performance at fever Boutique night club in Barnstaple on Saturday (March 29).
THE street dancing ‘funky grannies’ of MF Dance will be busting out with their own brand of ‘hip ‘op’ at Fever Boutique night club in Barnstaple on Saturday night.
A crew of all female dancers from the Pottington based dance school will be making their Fever debut to help the club promote its ‘Let’s Get Ready to Grumble’ OAP fancy dress theme night.
Led by head instructor Victoria Cousins, the MF team of not-so-old ‘grannies’ will be performing with a brand new routine choreographed by Victoria to the soundtrack of Let’s Get Ready to Rhumble by Ant and Dec (then known as ‘PJ and Duncan’).
MF Dance is sister company to Matt Fiddes Martial Arts and is now full time at Pottington, with classes also taking place in Bideford and Ilfracombe.
It is now poised to spread the franchise right across the UK with schools open in Cheshire and about to open in Wiltshire and Gloucestershire.
The successful formula used by the Barnstaple team is the same employed at the Matt Fiddes Martial Arts schools, with dance as the medium but instilling confidence and values such as respect and discipline as well as useful life skills into its students.
It is open to all ages, with students given step-by-step goals and grades they can achieve before advancing further, while the younger students are encouraged to display the positive values.
“Confidence, discipline and respect come into it – we have our creed that we follow in class, respect other people and their property,” said Victoria.
“We work individually with students and we have noticed a massive change in them, with great feedback from parents saying how much we have helped their children.”
In August Victoria will be heading out to Los Angeles in America to train with some of the world’s top choreographers at the famous International Dance Academy in Hollywood.
Over 18s can check out the moves of the MF Dance crew on Saturday at Fever, but all ages are welcome to find out more about the dance classes on offer, with taster sessions on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. Call freephone 0800 0350415 or visit www.mfdance.co.uk.
