Local charities benefit from village celebration.

JUBILEE celebrations at Bishops Tawton in Barnstaple have raised £1,700 for two worthy local causes.

The whole community turned out to support the street party in the village and proceeds have been divided between North Devon Hospice and the 5th North Devon (Bishops Tawton) Scout Group.

The money is particularly welcome to the scouts, who will carry out much-needed refurbishment to the local scout hut.

The Jubilee event was organised by a committee of residents, supported by the Chichester Arms and Three Pigeons pubs, with a free live concert at the Chichester on the day. Organisers would like to thank all who gave support and donations.
