Braunton teenager’s Christmas lights display collects more than £600 for the charity.

A Braunton Academy student has raised an amazing £657.69 from his fantastic Christmas light display at 11 Chestnut Close in Braunton.

Josh Liddall, 15, spent hours working on the imaginative polar lights display at his nan’s house in Chestnut Close, staying outside until 11pm some nights to get it finished.

Then visitors and people in the surrounding community were invited to make a donation to the appeal.

Josh bought most of the lights himself, with a little financial help from family and friends, while the Braunton Co-operative store pledged to match fund whatever he raised, bringing his total to more than £600.

The GCSE art and design student dedicated the display to the memory of two grand parents plus a close family friend who all lost their lives to cancer.

“Josh’s enthusiasm and determination to create a spectacular Christmas light display for his local community and raising such a fantastic sum for the Chemotherapy Appeal was inspirational,” said appeal fundraiser Julie Whitton.
