If your new year’s resolution is to lose weight this year, why not do it to raise money for the North Devon Hospice’s 30th anniversary?
IF you’re looking to start 2014 with the challenge of a lifetime, why not join The Big Give and drop the pounds to help the North Devon Hospice?
This year marks the 30th anniversary of the Hospice and the North Devon Gazette is proud to be supporting the first event to celebrate the occasion.
We’re looking for 30 fantastic fundraisers who want to lose weight and change their lives while each raising hundreds of pounds for the charity to mark its special year.
The 12 week challenge will see the group helping each other through high intensity interval workouts and a nutrition plan to get into their best shape yet.
The Big Give is run in conjunction with Absolute Training and Nutrition in Barnstaple, and is sponsored by Taylor Fasteners.
“We need 30 people who want to make this the last time they make a new year’s resolution,” said Wayne Large, owner of Absolute Training.
“We want anyone who wants to make a change; people who want to become healthier.
“You don’t just have to have weight to lose, you might be suffering from sleeping problems, depression, low libido, poor self esteem – The Big Give can help all this.
“We’ve seen people lose 35-40lbs in this challenge before and previous participants have all said it’s the best thing they’ve ever done.”
The Hospice has been supporting patients with life-limiting illnesses, and their families, for three decades in North Devon.
Emma Lowe, of the North Devon Hospice, said: “Maybe you are turning 30 in 2014? Or you are celebrating your own 30th anniversary during the year?
“Perhaps the hospice has helped a loved one or a friend and this is the perfect event for you to show your support?
“Whatever your reason for taking part, this event could be life-changing for you, and will also help us improve the lives of local people who need our care and support.”
The challenge lasts for three months and costs £40 a month (which will be donated to the Hospice). This includes a surprise half way challenge, and a glitzy ball to show off your new body to family and friends at the end.
Anyone wishing to take part must be available to attend a fitness test and fundraising chat on Saturday, January 11.
Successful challengers will be notified that weekend and the challenge begins on Monday, January 13.
