Staff and customers at a Barnstaple shop are getting in the saddle to raise funds for Prostate Cancer UK.

The team at Johnstone’s Decorating Centre are spending the week racking up the miles on an exercise bike in their Old Station Road store.

They hope to cycle 7,420 miles over the course of the week, the equivalent of Barnstaple to Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, where the Johnstone’s head office is based.

It’s part of a nationwide effort from Johnstone’s stores to raise funds for the prostate cancer charity.

Johnstone’s regional manager Mark Gooch said: “We’ve got staff and customers taking part and we’re asking people to come in and rack up some miles for a worthy cause.”

The team hopes to raise £5,000 for the charity. To donate, or to get in the saddle yourself, drop in at the Johnstone’s store on Old Station Road.
