Archant

Don’t miss the region’s premier one day show tomorrow (Wednesday).

Got your eyes on any rosettes at the show this year? Got your eyes on any rosettes at the show this year?

The North Devon Show returns tomorrow (Wednesday) to Umberleigh Barton just off the A377 near Umberleigh.

The eagerly awaited celebration of the region’s agricultural heritage is a great day out for all ages, with a packed livestock programme plus how jumping, open dog show, attractions, displays, demonstrations, trade stands and refreshments.

Highlights this year include the return of the Bolddog Lings motorcycle display team – who wowed the judges of Britain’s Got Talent – plus the Pony Club Games, falconry, grand parade of livestock and much more.

Sheep, cattle, alpacas and equestrian classes are sure to prove a hit once again, together with the eagerly anticipated dog show, produce, flower and craft shows.

Not to mention displays of rural skills, the Country Pursuits area with information, demonstrations and advice on traditional pastimes such as racing ferrets, trained gun dogs at work, pigeon decoying and even try your hand at fly casting.

Plus, this is the second year the show has had high profile visitors, as deputy prime minister Nick Clegg follows in the footsteps of Prime Minister David Cameron last year.

A number of other politicians will be attending the show, including farming minister George Eustice, Dr Julia Reid, MEP for the South West and Gibraltar; and Ray Finch, MEP for the South East of England.

Show gates open at 8am.
