Denise Holton and Elizabeth Hammett’s book, Barnstaple Through Time, takes the reader on a trip in to the past and shows how the town has changed over the years.

Simply move the sliders from left to right to view the then-and-now pictures.

The early photograph of the riverfront, as seen from the bridge, is one of the few to show a ship moored near Queen Anne’s Walk. This is also one of the few taken before the extension of the railway line to Ilfracombe.
