Two men and a woman from the West Midlands are arrested in connection with the raid on Thomas Jewellers in Ilfracombe

Three people have been arrested on suspicion of carrying out the smash and grab raid on Thomas Jewellers in Ilfracombe.

The window of the shop in Northfield Road was broken at around 4pm on Friday, September 29 and items of jewellery taken.

DC Simon Scotthorne of Barnstaple CID said acting on information provided, officers from Devon and Cornwall Police had arrested two men and a woman in the West Midlands.

He said the men are aged in their late 30s and the woman is in her late 40s.

The trio have been released under investigation while inquiries continue.

The alleged break-in at the shop owned by Roger and Julie Florence saw a mixed bag of modern and antique jewellery stolen.

The couple told the Gazette the loss included a new identity bracelet worth around £900 and a Victorian sovereign mounted on a heavy gold chain worth £950.

At the time North Devon Sector Inspector Paul Searle said it was an isolated incident and not something that usually happened in Ilfracombe.

Police asked anyone who saw anything or who has any information, no matter how small, is asked to call 101 quoting log 651 of 29/09/17.
