MORE than 200 people had a look around the new AgriBusiness Centre in Holsworthy on Saturday.

The project is set to open in the summer and the open day allowed visitors to take a look as the building begins to take shape.

The design of the main structure includes a 300,000 litre water tank so that rain water can be collected from the roof and re-used for washing down.

Another feature is a new lagoon in front of the market, which has been constructed to trap all the surface water running off the site, releasing it in a controlled manner into the local watercourse.

These two elements combine to make the market resource efficient and environmentally sustainable.

Councillor Barry Parsons: “This has been a long time coming for Holsworthy.

“It’s a high specification massive project for the area and I look forward to the opening next summer.”

Chris Spear, area director for contractors Morgan Sindall, said: “The Morgan Sindall team is well-versed in projects such as this and is working closely alongside Torridge District Council and end-user Kivells in the delivery of this important scheme.”
