A GENEROUS fund raising day at a Bideford restaurant enabled 25 local children to enjoy a day out at Skern Lodge outdoor activity centre.

Tony Jarrad, owner of the Riversford Hotel and Riverview Restaurant, offered customers a free meal during the Jubilee celebrations in return for a donation to the North Devon Downs Syndrome Association.

It raised £527.50 for a day out at Skern for local children suffering from downs syndrome and their siblings at the centre in Appledore.

“We are very grateful to the Riversford and its customers for donating the money to enable the children to have such a wonderful day and experience things they would not normally do,” said Lynn Ashman with the charity.

The association is a voluntary organisation open to anybody in North Devon with a relative suffering from downs syndrome. To find out more about its work, email lynnashman@live.com.
