Man in his 20s was reported to have entered a store in the town brandishing two kitchen knives.

POLICE in Holsworthy are searching for a man who evaded capture after an alleged armed robbery in the town on Thursday.

The man, described as being white and in his 20s, with short light brown hair, was reported to have pulled out two large kitchen knives on the cashier in the Bazaar shop in the Square.

Police said he demanded the cashier opened the till, but she refused and began to scream. The suspect then fled the shop with a Lynx body spray and tobacco.

Officers were called to the scene at 3.20pm and dog handlers, a police helicopter and officers on foot and in cars searched for the man.

The suspect was last seen running past the McColl’s shop at 3.40pm and was wearing a black top and bottoms with white squares on.

Investigations continue today to find the man. Anyone with information can contact police on 101 quoting reference number CH/14/2.
