MEMBERS of the Sealed Knot will once again be coming to Barnstaple next week to take part in an English Civil War re-enactment.

The event, being organised by and held at Barnstaple Heritage Centre on the Strand, has proved popular over the past two years and returns to Barnstaple on Saturday, July 5 for a fun-filled day of learning.

As well as the re-enactment, which will involve up to 80 people, there will also be a number of other activities taking place throughout the day, including ‘living history’ tents.

Event organiser Denise Holton said: “We had large crowds last year and we’ve improved on it a lot this time.

“There will be plenty to do, including spinning, drilling and using a pike. Master Nathan the barber surgeon will also be there performing ‘surgeries’!”

Civil war weapons and armour will also be on show at the event, which will run all day from 9.30am.
