We’re on the lookout for 30 people to lose weight and feel great for the North Devon Hospice as it celebrates it’s 30th anniversary.
ARE you fed up of trying every diet, endlessly running the treadmill like a hamster in a wheel and waking up every morning feeling unhappy with your body?
If you’re serious about losing weight, kick-starting your health and transforming your life in 2014, the Gazette has got the challenge for you.
We’ve teamed up with the North Devon Hospice and Absolute Training and Nutrition to launch The Big Give challenge.
Emma Lowe, fundraiser at the Hospice, said: “Next year the Hospice will be celebrating its 30th anniversary and this will kick it all off.
“We’re looking for 30 people to lose weight and feel great as well as helping us raise hundreds of pounds to help more than 100 local people.”
The 12 week challenge will see participants follow a dedicated nutrition plan and take part in 30-minute high intensity interval sessions.
Those taking part will not only find their body shape and confidence transforming, but they’ll also be raising at least £600 each to help those in need.
It’s not about who can lose the most weight, but about being determined to change your lifestyle, says Wayne Large, owner of Absolute Training in Barnstaple.
“We’re looking for anyone who really wants to make a change, the person who is fed up of trying every diet that’s out there with no results,” he said.
“It’s not a competition – it’s about helping each other through this together because doing anything on your own is tough.
“People typically lose 30-40lbs of fat, but it’s about becoming confident and healthy; it’s a whole lifestyle change.”
Those who are interested must commit to a minimum of three training sessions a week, raise at least £600 in sponsorship and be happy to feature in the Gazette.
Entrants must also undergo a fitness test on Saturday, January 11, but this is not a test of your physical fitness, said Wayne.
“The test is typically an eight minute high intensity workout,” he explained.
“We want to see who can really pick themselves up and pull through when the going gets tough.”
