The North Devon Show is on Wednesday, August 2 – and you can get tickets from numerous locations including the North Devon Gazette office
The 51st North Devon Show will take place at Umberleigh Barton Farm on Wednesday, August 2 and is promising a fantastic day out for all the family.
The show prides itself on retaining the agricultural heritage of the area, as well as showcasing the magnificent animals bred in the region.
This year you can also buy your show tickets at the North Devon Gazette offices in Old Station Road, Barnstaple (by Grosvenor Church) at a discount compared to gate prices on the day.
Stagecoach buses will be running to the showground from Barnstaple Bus Station (service 786), Torrington School Lane (771) and South Molton Square (777) throughout the day.
New for this year is a pig exhibition marquee and there are always strong entries across all livestock categories, plus a packed programme of showjumping and equine events.
Over the years, organisers have endeavoured to provide a first class agricultural show embracing the country way of life through rural skills, vintage vehicles and rare breeds of animals.
It also looks to the future with traders providing an excellent range of high-tech machinery and farming equipment.
Attractions for this year include the death-defying antics of the Bolddog Lings Freestyle Team in the main ring as they take motorcycle aerobatics to new heights.
The Mountain Aerial Display Team will also be appearing, together with a range of entertainers and demonstrations.
Titan the robot is always a hit with the crowds and will be making appearances around the showground through the day.
The foodhall offers a fabulous display of produce reflecting the area’s fine tradition of producing high quality food – vegetables, fruit, meats, fish, preserves, plus a variety of local beers and wines.
There is plenty to see and browse, including the crafts and gifts marquee, arcade, country pursuits, classic cars, young farmers rally and much more.
Dartington Crystal will be holding demonstrations in the show arcade throughout the day too.
This year will see the staging of the Long Service Awards in agriculture and horticulture and new classes have been introduced in the horticultural and floral art schedule – just ask for an application form.
