Bensons restaurant displays hand carved poppy in commemoration of World War One.

BENSONS restaurant in Appledore are displaying a hand carved poppy in commemoration of the World War One centenary year.

Made by Ronald Slade from Northam, the carving will be shown on the restaurants external facia which can be found on Appledore Quay up until 12 August.

Locals are very impressed with the carving and pleased to see it commemorate an occasion of such importance.
