Man stopped in Sainsbury’s car park after driving on red wine and whisky.

A 66-YEAR-old man from Staines has pleaded guilty to drink driving after he was stopped by a supermarket attendant in South Molton.

Andrew Parsons, of Kingston Road, Twickenham, said he drove to Sainsbury’s on July 12 after drinking some red wine and whisky at lunchtime.

A member of staff smelt alcohol on Parsons and when he saw him driving through the car park he stopped his car.

Parsons apologies for ‘wasting his and the police’s time’ and in custody blew a reading of 53 microgrammes of alcohol in 100ml of breath.

Magistrates disqualified him from driving for 15 months and fined him £1,200 plus costs of £85 and a £120 victim surcharge.
