A PIECE of graffiti has appeared on a wall in Bideford near the site of the proposed Atlantic Park development.

The artwork, which appears to object to the McDonald’s plans, is believed to be that of well-known artist Mau Mau.

Planning applications for a McDonald’s, Brewer’s Fayre and Premier Inn were passed in principle for the site opposite Atlantic Village by Torridge District Council last month.

The applications sparked protests from residents concerned over the loss of the commercial woodland currently on the site.

The new piece of artwork appears to depict a McDonald’s employee ‘evicting’ characters from Winnie the Pooh.

A number of other Mau Mau pieces of art have also previously popped up around North Devon, including on the Torridge Bridge, along the Tarka Line and locations around Barnstaple.

The piece of art appeared on Mau Mau’s website this week titled ‘Where the woods used to be’.
