Golden Sands resident Sadie Tisdale is celebrating her 100th birthday today with a musical afternoon at the Westward Ho! nursing home.
A Westward Ho! nursing home resident is celebrating turning 100 today (Saturday) with a sing-a-long celebration.
Sadie Tisdale, who lives at Golden Sands, was born in Pangbourne, Berkshire, on February 3, 1918.
She attended St John’s School where her favourite subject was English, and left at the age of 14.
Sadie went on to work as a shorthand typist at an engineering company, which she said she enjoyed.
One day when she was leaving work and walking home, she met her husband Bob, who was cycling.
They married in St Leonard’s Church in Malvern, and Sadie remembers wearing a multi-coloured two-piece, with a bouquet of fuschias.
She has one son, former Torridge District Councillor Roger Tisdale, and an eight-year-old grandson, Robbie.
Staff at Golden Sands have organised musical entertainment for Sadie’s birthday this afternoon as she loves singing along.
