Organisers of Croyde music and surf festival hopeful for sunshine as Oceanfest kicks off on Friday.

THE organisers of this year’s Goldcoast Oceanfest are keeping their fingers crossed for a weekend of sunshine.

Warren Latham, festival director, said the annual event in Croyde was ‘shaking things up a bit’ this year with new additions and ‘physical changes’ to the showground.

Newton Faulkner will be headlining the Saturday stage, after Clean Bandit pulled out of the top slot earlier this year.

There will also be musical performances from Mason Jennings, Natty, Pete Murray, Nina Nesbitt, Ruarri Joseph, Willie & The Bandits and more.

“The weekend weather looks good and we’re hoping for the first dry Oceanfest in some years,” said Warren.

“We’ve got loads of new and different things this year, particularly for the younger kids, and there will be free workshops and activities as well as some physical changes on the ground.

“We’d encourage everyone to bring their suncream and drink plenty of water because we’re hoping for plenty of sunshine.”

Free activities this year include circus skills, slack lining clinics, a beach bum crèche, art skills, yoga workshops, surf simulator and a mini triathlon.

Goldcoast kicks off on Friday at 10am and closes on Sunday at 8pm. The festival has also teamed up with Stagecoach to offer buses to and from the arena.
