Barnstaple charity worker urges people to leave a legacy to fight cancer.

A BARNSTAPLE charity worker is urging people to think about leaving a donation to Cancer Research UK in their wills.

Ruth Chamings, 27, is helping the charity to launch a nationwide drive to increase ‘legacy giving’ after seeing a close friend lose her life to cancer.

Ruth, who is the events manager for Barnstaple’s Race for Life, said: “I want to be meeting more survivors each year at Race for Life and it’s through funding our scientists that this will happen.

“Over a third of the charity’s pioneering work is funded through legacy giving which is why I am supporting this campaign to encourage more people across North Devon to remember Cancer Research UK in their wills.

“Making a will is really personal and one of the most important documents that any of us consider during our lives.

“For most people, remembering loved ones is a primary concern, and rightly so. It’s also amazing when people choose to make a difference to help shape Cancer Research UK’s life-saving research by supporting us in this special way.”

For more information about leaving a legacy gift to Cancer Research UK call Ros Fry on 01308 423805.
