The evening in Braunton will raise money for two charities.

AN event in Braunton this weekend will raise money for two charities ahead of one woman’s effort to cycle 250 miles across Africa.

Donna Seymour, 29, is taking on the endurance battle for the Roy Castle Lung Cancer Foundation after the death of her father in 2010.

She said: “When I saw the African cycle challenge I thought it was perfect; I needed a new focus in life so what could be better?

“I get to improve my fitness, see the wonderful sights of Africa, which my dad would have loved to see, and I get to raise money for a fantastic charity.”

She will be holding an evening of live entertainment and an interesting array of raffles with co-worker from Braunton Care, Alice Garriock.

The evening will also be raising money for Emmanuel Stepping Stones, a local charity working to build a nursery in the Gambia.

Alice, has been raising money for the charity since visiting the country in April, and said: “Braunton Care has been going for three years now and this will be our first fundraiser for charity; we are all hoping for success for this and future events.”

The fundraising evening will be held at the Fortescue Club in Braunton from 7pm on Saturday.

Tickets cost £4 per person and are available from the Braunton Care office and staff.
