Visitors to the Bideford exhibition will have a chance to inspect wartime weapons and meet veterans at the free exhibition.

NORTH Devon Veteran’s Association is hosting an exhibition at Kingsley School for Armed Forces Week on Saturday.

Visitors to Kingsley Occupied will be able to inspect weapons, equipment and images from wartime and meet veterans from World War II to Afghanistan.

The sports hall will come alive with displays showing photographs of service life since the end of World War II.

There will also be stands manned by service personnel from those conflicts, as well as Help For Heroes, SSAFA and the British Legion.

A large display of de-activated weaponry and equipment, as well as mannequins wearing uniforms from the eras, will be on display for all.

Outside in the sports field there will be marquees with service personnel demonstrating the tasks they have to undergo.

A medical tent will show the equipment used to treat the wounded in Afghanistan, compared to how soldiers were treated in the 17th century.

There will also be a careers recruitment area and representatives from the Royal Marines, REME, St. Johns Ambulance, AAC Corps, RMB Chivenor and others.

The free exhibition, which runs from 10am until 4pm, will be officially opened by Lord John Burnett, followed by a drum service for the fallen at 11am.

There will also be performances from Bideford Town Band and Tarka Pipe Band.
