High tides and prevailing winds could lead to flooding in some North Devon coastal areas this evening, the Environment Agency has warned.

THE Environment Agency has issued a flood alert for coastal and tidal areas of North Devon.

The warning has been put out for areas between Hartland Point and Lynmouth, including the Taw and Torridge estuary due to high spring tides this evening (Monday) combined with the forecast wind direction.

High water in Ilfracombe is forecast for 7.45pm tonight, Barnstaple is at 7.42pm and Bideford 7.32.

Flood alerts are intended to make people aware flooding is possible and to take precautions if required.

The Environment Agency has reminded people that times of high tide will vary along the coast. It says conditions usually apply two to four hours either side of high tide.
